“Brian Chappell has completed many projects for Hyde Hall, all of which exceeded our expectations. He has impressed us by his resolve to faithfully recreate historic lighting parts, leader heads, and period brass adjustable heater vents. His abilities as a craftsman and metalworker continue to grow by leaps and bounds because of his willingness to tackle difficult and ambitious work. If you are looking for an articulate, exacting, reasonable, and first-rate artisan, Brian is your man.” ~Jonathan P. Maney, Ph.D., Executive Director and C.E.O., Hyde Hall, Inc.
“Brian, at Aurelius Restoration Services, has performed many restoration projects on historic lighting for me. He has restored a rare miniature sinumbra lamp to burn oil as well as numerous solar and argand lamps. His ability to faithfully recreate period burners allows the modern user to bring the 19th century back to life. Brian's talents are not limited to lighting: his knowledge of mechanics and period design allows him to tackle many restoration projects which other restorers avoid. If you are looking for a consummate professional who is reasonably priced and exacting, then you have come to the right person.”

“I had a nice, tall ornate Cornelius Solar lamp which was missing the deflector, chimney retaining nut, and the entire deflector driver. Brian machined a new brass deflector with nut and cast/machined a new brass deflector driver and added the tin tube. And from an attention to detail perspective, he reset (re-soldered) the original draft tube which was off center in the font, something I had not noticed. Everything fit and worked perfectly. Expect all around quality work.”
